Administration Approves Two Solar Projects in California

Infrastructure investment will be about $689 million.

The Bureau of Land Management announced that President Biden’s administration has approved two major solar projects on federal land in the California desert. Although it was anticipated the project would move forward as part of Build Back Better, the administration is using federal authority to press ahead with its clean energy plans.

The bureau said the projects in Riverside County will have a combined infrastructure investment of about $689 million. The two solar plants could eventually cover 2,700 acres in Riverside County, an hour’s drive east of Palm Springs and just south of Joshua Tree National Park

The projects will be run by a San Francisco-based developer and will generate enough power to serve some 132,000 homes.

A third California solar farm is awaiting final approval, and the land management bureau is “soliciting interest” for the solar energy development of nearly 90,000 acres of public land located in Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisors to be wise in their efforts to transition to renewable energy.
  • For officials in the Bureau of Land Management as the solar projects are implented.
  • For discernment for U.S. energy personnel regarding the environmental impacts associated with massive solar farms.
